Black Milk & Green Darner

gerryg Aug 05, 2012 01:40 PM

Not the two best photos of Jade but it was freaking hot and muggy
today... holding her out at arms length trying to get good shots proved taxing very quickly... much easier holding out the smaller ones I usually post. Rather a shame it's overcast today... she just shed a couple of days ago so her color is much better than what you see in the photos.

Seems early in the morning before they have a chance to warm up is a good time to get close-ups of some of the larger dragonflies that always seem to be on-the-wing during the day.

Thanks Brad... appreciate it because she is my not so little baby.

Just measured her at 6'4"... didn't try to get every kink out of her body so I'd say 6'6" anyway. Weight I have no idea. I sometimes think she seems overweight but for the last three years at this time of year she goes off her feed. May not eat for 8 to 12 weeks but it doesn't seem to lessen her bulk. She's almost 6 years old now so even when she is feeding it's only a small rat once a week because I do think she has a little too much weight.

Very nice looking BM have have there as well Dave... how about a few more details... male/female, age, size... looking at the image info I'm guessing female?

Really like to hear from some of you that have been at this longer.

For the last two years her feeding as been just a single small rat weekly... at the end of any given year the average is even less that that due to her going off feed.

Maybe just big boned?

Gorgeous black milk!

I can't wait til my pair look like her.

Mine are about 10 months old and just started on large mice 2 days ago, so they are well on their way.

Man that is just an excellent animal Gerry!

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

What's wrong with using CAUTION?!?!?!

No doubt you've all noticed I like posting pics of my babies despite the limited selection of ssp's I have.

I take pleasure in each and everyone of them, and I like to share that, but Jade here is my favorite. As I know I've mentioned before she's a present from my son Nate... I also never get tired of mentioning the fact one of the reasons he gave her to me was 'cause Jade was a runt... still, despite that, he's my favorite son.

Thanks again all

Gerry
