I found a dead snake on my driveway. I live in Central Florida. The snake was approximately 12 inches long.

Can someone identify this snake??? I appreciate your help.

That's just a hatchling. They're the most commonly seen snake in Florida.

That's one that fools a lot of people because it looks nothing like the adults. Most common snake in southern Florida. Here's a site you may want to take a look at concerning venomous snakes.

Yeah there are quite a few black racers around. I however, do see probably 40 to 50 yellow ratsnakes to 1 black racer, but yellow ratsnakes seem to come and go, while black racers usually stay within their home range.

Here's a pic of one I rescued out of someone's yard, someone who was going to kill it if I didn't come get it.

It's amazing to see the color difference. This is a different black racer, that's only a couple months older than the previous one. They eat frogs, lizards, and other reptiles in the wild, but I have not had one that would eat rodents, even though a few people say they have gotten them to eat them. This one is eating a coral snake.
