Last But Not Least!

Zunchara and Zane's last baby out of egg yesterday. All ten eggs hatched.

So this makes 17 baby pyros counting Dotz and Mazar's clutch. Will be 18 when Zafina and Zane's only child hatches tomorrow; egg pipped this morning.

For not plannimg on breeding I sure got a mess of snakes this year, and the bulls and gophers clutches are still due in a few weeks. Even found two more healthy clutches of fence lizard eggs when changing to fresh soil substrate in lizard tubs yesterday. Wonder what I'd get if I really tried! LOL!

Good work Bob. When you've got it, you've got it. Mine critters have been rather prolific this year too. Hope you can find nice homes for them all.

Thanks! I am rather surprised at some of the results in this clutch, with babies that look better than either parent, in my opinion.

You're killing me man! I would love to see shots of them all when you have time.

I have a few alterna and corn eggs due to hatch soon. Then the fun starts.

You've got some great looking babies there Bob. Now the hard part, deciding which are the keepers! Congrats! dave.

Thanks!
I am keeping the one with the most bands, and a couple others that look like the dam. After they do the post hatching shed I will look at them all again and make a final decision.

Please do not take offense, but why is it about you? They are the ones who reproduced, Not you.

Your job as a keeper is to SUPPORT the animals so they can do what they do naturally, you know, whatt hey do without you around.

If those animals were in nature, they would STILL BE REPRODUCING, or getting consumed by something.

Its kinda a simple problem to solve, they reproduced with you trying, and they reproduced without you trying. Which by simple logic means, its was not about you trying.

This is the point that folks don't get(here, very often) these animals have been reproducing since before man was a monkey, muchless since you came around. Its not about you. Once you understand that its not about you, then you can really start to learn about the animals and what they are capable of. its about them

In reality, your suppose to support their natural abilities, if you do not want babies, then don't hatch the eggs, its that simple, but to try and subdue them to a point they cannot reproduce, Should in all rights be illegal. If you kept your dog or cat or horse so poorly it couldn't physically reproduce, you would be cited and fined, Or even more servere punitative actions taken against you.

You did not do that, but many others do. I hope you see my point. Husbandry is defined as support. To support= to husband. As a keeper your suppose to support your charges, not limit or control them. And congrats and best wishes

Although I am very proud of my babies, I could not have had such good results had I not had good stock to begin with and given them everything they needed to be all they can be. So kudos to my breeders! They are the main performers in this play; I am just the stage crew.

I guess its the attitude of the new. Your doing a good job, you have great animals, but to think your giving them everything they need is naive. They are in a box. Your giving them the minimum they need.

To reproduce is the minimum level of success, not the maximum. Below reproduction is extintion. Quality of recruitment is the level of reproductive success. Quality of life is also a level of success. Cheers

Your rude and immature post just shows that you are trying to be something you are not, which is: Be a constructive contributor to a forum about kingsnakes.

Get over yourself. Grow up! Realize that others have and have done the same thing as you have.

FR,
My snakes seem happy to me as near as I can tell. They are content and at ease in their habitats. Quality of life matters to me with all my animals. I feel an argument coming on and I don't need anybody's approval on my hobby. If it is some actual useful tip a more experienced keeper may want to share, I am most open to suggestions. Otherwise I am not sure what is the point here. It is bloody hot and my brain is fatigued...so in a way it IS all about me and not the snakes when I get irritated...thank you for the congratulations, though.
