I have always enjoyed my prairie kings (ks locale) and thought they were underated pets. I have recently came to appreciate mole kings from my neck of the woods in the same way. These animals are a joy to handle, beautiful, and have the same laid back temperments as their western cousins.

Hope you enjoyed them.

Joe

Nice photos. They kind of have the angry eye syndrome, albeit not as bad as bull snakes.

I was just thinking how much like pituophis they resemble.

A little San Diego gopher squeezing the life out of my hand; note the intent glare...

Yeah, it would be cool to have all the different species. You should get some occipitolineata from Mark, they're really different and interesting snakes to work with. It's cool you found those up there, you must have got really lucky, lol!

LOL. Yeah, because according to some I don't know how to herp!! I have found quite a few this year. I have found that these animals, much like the LTT I find, live in "pockets" and once you find the pocket, well you get the picture. Mark and I have talked via email and I plan on working something out with him so we both have each others locales. Funny how some of you mentioned the "anger look" they have. When I first saw a pic a mole king many years ago in a field guide my first thought was "man that looks like a mean snake"!!! Nothing could be further from the truth. I have yet to be bitten by mine and they did not even bite when I found them. Just awesome snakes.

Yeah, that's to funny, I can't wait to go up there and not catch snakes with you. That second animal is pretty sick, is that one of the girls?

Thanks Gerard. The second animal is actually my big male. That one you just posted is pretty darn sweet. Is that one from Mark the mole king? Yeah, we won't find a thing herping.

Yep, that's the male I got last year almost exactly. I'm picking up a unrelated pair from him next weekend.
