How much to pay

-clickman Oct 05, 2003 09:14 PM

How much should I be paying for just a regular old Mali? I don't like to have reptiles shipped (Especially in the winter) due to unreliablility, and theres a local Petsmart that actually takes fairly good care of their animals. They have a tank with two young Mali's, but not sure how much I should be paying.

I got one of my uros at Petsmart, and she was $100. I then went to a Expo and got one for $30. You can tell which wast eh better deal. I also know that they are CB so that is a plus. Even thought this is not always the case, my petsmart Mali is a lot nicer looking than the show one. so it depends on the quality.
i am sorry if i was no help

I got my Mali male at Petsmart(I work there). He's a really friendly, healthy big boy, and I had the added assurance of working with him for a couple months before the actual purchase.

There is a wide range of prices for malis depending on where you buy them, their age and if they are cb or wc. I, personally would choose a cb baby from a reputable breeder. I bought my cb mali baby from a local breeder for $40. He is very healthy with a nice personality. You will see the malis from as cheap as $30 to over $100. Some of the reptile shows are ok and the pet shops may be ok, but do your homework and inspect the animal thoroughly before you bring it home. Good luck, I hope you find what you are looking for.

I payed 160 Canadian at PetsUnlimited for a couple of months old heathly male Mali, thats probably a few too many dollars, but I think they're kinda rare here (Nova Scotia) so thats probably why I payed a little extra.

I think it depends where you live and how available they are. I bought mine (CB) at a reptile store for $125. I have never seen them at the Petcos or Petsmarts here. I would imagine they would be near $100 which may be too high a price for them to sell quickly.

I paid $150 Canadian for a young juvenile CB Mali uromastyx from a Toronto-based breeder. He was worth every penny, no health problems at all with a wonderful personality

The generally universal price seems to be $35. That's what I paid for mine about three years ago, and I've seen countless numbers of them at reptile shows for around that price. Also, cb babies are about that price as well, but there doesn't seem to be many around here.

I just got a set of CB Saharan Uro’s from Douglas Dix of DeerFernFarms.com and I paid a little less then $90 each for them. I picked them up at the West Coast Captive Breeders Expo and got to meet him in person. He is a very nice guy and had some great Uro’s for sale. As soon as I got home, the Uro’s started to eat right away and they have been great ever since.
Good Luck,
Steve
