The really big show is here and perhaps not so big these days. Pituophis were scattered and few in representation. Just one person with hatchling Northern Pines (1!), a single lineaticollis of some 4' and thin, a couple of cups of "Snow Bulls", a few other "White bulls", two batches of hatchling ruthveni, as well as some yearlings. All of them looked to be quite legitimate and from responsible sources. Four deserticola babies were split between widely dispersed tables. One adult vertebralis lurked forlornly, as did two adult albino affinis and one albino Northern Pine, and a single hypo bull. Rounding it all out were two large female Northern Pines of normal color so far as predominately black/white goes. Not a single jani or D. deppei to be found. Lodingi were horribly down in representation, as were most of the high end sayi morphs of recent years. I forgot to mention the "Bumble Bee" Bulls, which are interesting if not sensational, an acquired taste perhaps. Balls Pythons and Leopard geckos continue to support the whole thing, so we should not begrudge them. Hi to Mr Discern... Lets get you back next year. TJ

" Hi to Mr Discern... Lets get you back next year. TJ "

Sir Tom,

I gladly read your Daytona Pit Report with baited breath!
So glad to hear about the pit representation, even though it appears to be at the supreme lowest, which is quite sad, to say the least!!

Daytona years 2003-2006 seemed to have the most, from my recollection!

Tom, did you pick anything up?
Billy

I too wish there was more.

I missed the white bulls and bumble bee bulls. Kevin's snows were nice. The ruthveni came with paper work.

You forgot to mention two tables with hatchling capes. And one lady selling chocolate bulls or something like that???

Peace River herps had some awesome Stillwater animals. They had two normal hypos and two pairs of red hypos.

You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the bumble bee bulls would you?!?!?

shadowguy Aug 19, 2012 07:22 AM

I'm getting the impression that I missed half a row or something to that effect... a senior moment perhaps I did indeed miss any baby capes or the small reds/hypos you mention. By the time I got back to Mary P's Bumble Bee exsrtaveganza most for sale items were gone. If she still has her demo male today I'll see if she'll let me photograph it and post it upon my return.

lucasjennings Aug 19, 2012 08:24 AM

yes please do if you can!! you have to search for the capes and such. they are usual on tables behind the ball pythons! LOL

Sunday brings the usual feeling of let down as the excitement of the show ebbs, the crowd thins, and dealers snarl under their breaths. I did find the baby cape's today, perched right out on top of some of Ben Siegel's cages! I'm just sure (!) they were hidden when I came by yesterday. Also chanced to see a pair of jani adults hidden (!) six feet from the aisle in a pile of tubs at the "Reptile House" tables. I encouraged one of the owners to put them out where they might catch someone's eye! That said, they were not particularly contrasty as far as jani can go. At $250 they were fairly priced and that was surely negotiable. Having several better looking ones at home I managed to keep hands out of my cash stash so far as they were concerned. Lightning storms have again invaded the sky; no sunbathing going on here for the vitamin D deficient! Time to contemplate what was seen, and what was missed... Goodbyes were said to compatriots from across the country. Morning will come again, and surely we would venture in again, were it possible, just to be a part of dream realized that reptile shows truly are.

yeah I like to hit the shows day one. its not the day to deal but everything is usually there.

I missed the jani yesterday too.

It was good to meet you, Tom. I saw a trio of adult pumilus as well. The show was definitely all leopard gecko and ball python, but it was still a good time. First time ever I came home empty handed though.

shadowguy Aug 21, 2012 06:25 PM

Those pumilus are nice... were there last year! Poor owner can't find a male for the trio. Those originated from JG but came to him via a third party.
