I was able to get an adult trio of these Coffee line alterna from a close friend of mine. These came to me the day before Daytona. I am happy to have them. He produced 17 hatchlings from them, and I got the whole group.I will likely keep a few. Here are pics of one pair, the other female is in shed. I will try to get pics of the hatchlings too,as they are just now shedding for the first time. First two pics are the female with and without flash, third pic is the male.

That female is gorgeous! I know you will post them later, but how many of the babies look like the mom?

Gosh, Paul, those are just INCREDIBLY unique looking!!

I have really liked those a bunch ever since I first saw Jimmy Tintle's from that same line...

Doug, they are nice for generics. I was heavy into locale alterna a long time ago. They still hold an interest for me, but I just couldn't pass on these. Thanks for the compliment.

DMong Aug 23, 2012 12:35 AM

Yeah, I agree. The fact that they are authentic alterna with nothing like "zig-zag" cornsnake or E.flavirufa involved in their lineage is all that really matters there..LOL!

Wow, that female is incredible and the male is very cool looking too. Congrats on the pick up. Locality is nice, but there is nothing wrong with sweet looking generics. Love that line. Good luck with it, keep the pics coming...Dave.

Thanks for the compliment Dave. My buddy is the one I thanked ! He picked them up last year as proven adults and knew of my interest in them. He remembered me when the time came to part with them. We all need friends like that !

Very nice Paul......

Wow...those are incredible and a testimony to why I myself place alterna on top of the Kingsnake pile.

Such unique and awesome animals there my friend!

And yes, generic or not, these are awesome!

Paul, real nice. I should hopefully produce some next year. That female is just great. Here's one of my 2010 females and a het female. Last is the het male. Good luck with them and congrats on a nice pick up. Did you produce any hypo calligaster this year?

Jimmy, that Coffey line you have there is outstanding ! I did not do the hypo Praries this year, I lost my adult female early in the spring. I do have 2 other females I am raising, one a hybino, to breed to my male. Not sure if they will go next year or not.

KcTrader Aug 25, 2012 10:05 AM

Thanks Paul. Hoping she will be ready next year.

Those are fantastic! Do you know for sure the mode of inheritance? Simple recessive, co-dom, etc.?

Aaron, supposedly they are simple recessive. I have a pair of "Hets" that should go next year. I also have two aberrant females that should go next year also. Hopefully this will prove it out that they for sure are. Hope this helps.
