Kerby nice clutch! I really like that striped hypo. Even though those ghosts are still my favorite. So many Cal kings to choose from now a days. Keep'em coming!

The one in the upper left. Looks like a faded albino.

So, visually it looks different than a normal amel?

Yes, it looks lighter or faded (the hypo influence).

Okay....I believe you, but...

In my mind hypomelanism (hypo) is the reduction in black and amelanism is total the total absence of black. It seems an amel cannot show hypomelanism at the same time because all the black is absent....

Is the yellow dull too?

But you have seen these WAY more than I have.

An albino hypo will still show albino and hypo at the same time. Hypo has color, just look at the striped hypo. It would just be lighter as an albino.

Just like an albino hight white has 2 shades of white. On a cal king the yellow stays the same when it is an albino. The other colors do not disappear as an albino. Black turns white, brown turns a different color of white, and hypo turns even another shade of white.

I know hypo has color...Hypomelanism means reduced melanin (black).

But once black is totally absent (amel) how can it be showing hypomelanism at the same time?

If it's gone how can it be reduced too?

Again...not arguing just curious.

**But once black is totally absent (amel) how can it be showing hypomelanism at the same time?**

It is not gone, black turns to white, hypo turns to a different shade of white, therefore a different looking cal king.

**If it's gone how can it be reduced too?**

It is not gone, it turns to white, hypo is not gone either, but will be a different shade of white, thus an albino hypo will have 2 shades of white. It will not be an all white snake. Even an albino high white is not an all white snake.

Albinism may change the way black is seen, not making it disappear.

For example on a black and yellow cal king. If it were albino it would be a white snake with yellow bands. So would it look the same on a cal king that is black and white? By your definition, then yes....but that is not correct. When a cal king that is normally black and white becomes an albino it is not an all white snake......so why would you expect a hypo that is an albino be an all white snake?

Also...
Is that Striped albino the other albino ghost (casper)?

Hard to tell until after they shed. It might be an albino. One Casper for sure.
