Boa - Abberant Skin or is he sick?

tobiass Aug 27, 2012 05:32 AM

Hi

I have bought this hypo motley het albino from a well-known and famous breeder. He told me that the white spots on the skin are not a skin illness or an injury, but are there from the birth.

I think there are more spots now and they are spreading above the hole snake.

Does anybody else have made experiences like this exspecially with the motley morph? I have the same with an albino motley, he gets orange spots, but there it´s just scale by scale and not that huge spots like at the hypo motley.

Or does anybody know a skin illness that looks like that? The skin is normal, there are no blisters or anything like that and the snake is eating and reacting normal?

Regards, Tobias

The scales don't look to good in the close up.To me it looks like a burn?Alao, rat toxcisity will burn the skin like that in areas.I can't believe it is"natural"Hope this helps a bit.

A burn was the first thought I had, when I saw him the first time. But the breeder told me it isn´t and it was there from the beginning (birth). I have bought another snake from this breeder before and that one was completely fine, so I trusted him.

What do you mean with rat toxicity?
That the snake got in contact with the toxin or that he has eaten a poisoned rat?

Both I don´t think so, because I feed frosted rats and mice, but of course I don´t know for sure, what happened to them before.

No,I did not mean that you fed the Boa a bad rat.I was just saying that severe toxicity burns. But,usually toxicity is not in spots like yours,it covers most of the snake.
I was just tring to help as no one else is.
