Flat-Tailed HL

Dwayne Oct 06, 2003 12:34 AM

Has anyone ever had one before and are they ever available? Plus I haven't seen any Texas HL in a long time just Desert HL. If anybody knows any info it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Both the Texas and Flat tailed HL are illegal to keep, only the Desert HL and 2 other species are legal to keep.

Their are 4 species available for commercial collection(3 in Nevada,1 in Texas). You can keep others as long as you abide by the rules of collection in the state, which is usually a limit of 2 or 4 per year. Laws vary by state so you need to check the state laws. The FTHL is protected in both Arizona and California. The THL is protected in Texas and Oklahoma.

Thank you both for the info. The Flat-Tailed just looks interesting, plus now that I ended up with baby desert HL that I felt sorry for and the wife wanted the HL's have peeked my curiosity. Back when I was younger I would never have gotten one but now with the internet I can get ants. I did alot of research on caring for these wonderful creatures and I'm glad I picked this one up plus the place that had him did not have a clue and thats a shame. I wasted no time in getting him out of there.
