WIld Pyro(Woodini)

kingaz Oct 06, 2003 12:43 AM

I usually see a few of these each summer, while hiking. This year I spotted only this one. It was at about 6500ft. in elevation in the Huachuca Mtns., of southeast Arizona. I have resisted the urge to keep any of the wild ones I've caught, but I have a few captive bred Pyros.

This appeared to be an older adult. I spotted him just off to the side of the trail in a wooded area close to a stream.

Your a better man than I. It would have been a real internal struggle on my part to put that back! Good job dude.

Hi,
Wow, thats a nice looking pyro. I hope to go to az. sometime soon to see pyros in the wild. I've only looked once, it just for 1 day near sodona-(spelling ?), but it was the end of june, hot too and no luck. Well thanks for sharing that pic, its an awesome looking pyro.
