Are all red Tegu's from Argentina

gnostic May 27, 2003 01:20 PM

I was wondering if all red tegu's are from argentina or paraguay. Is there any difference between the two or others if there are more reds from different locations?

Hi there! As far as I know the paraguayan and argentine are the only reds. Some argue that the paraguayans are more brownish-red, though I have not seen this difference. In fact, I have seen very little difference in appearance or temperaments as long as the paraguayan are CB. Both are priced pretty close to each other depending on who you deal or speak with. We have 2 paraguayan B&W and you'd swear they were argentine. We just took them to my daughter's 3rd grade class last week and were surrounded by 30 students petted, etc and were awesome! The male loved the attention. Important note though: tegus personalities vary like people do and this also holds true for CB tegus. Time and attention with yours can mean the world of difference between a tame, sweet tegu and one that remains skittish and temperamental around people.

Good luck!!!

Greg
