What python/boa should I get? (more)

SnakeFreak May 27, 2003 01:35 PM

I already have a pair of yearling ball pythons and I'm trying to decide what to get next. I'm looking for something about 3-5 feet, slightly more active than a ball python and will readily feed on f/t mice or small rats. I'm considering a spotted python or a rosy boa, but would like other suggestions. I would also like pics of people holding spotteds or rosy boas for size comparison.

Spotted pythons are great snakes and easy to keep and breed.
They are more active than ballpythons, especially when they smell food. My adults are around 4 feet, females a lot heavier than the males. Most spotteds are quite tame, but they make mistakes, thinking your hand is a mouse or rat. My males eat adult mice and the females eat medium rats.
Here are some photos. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Bas

I would have to agree that spotted pythons are some of the best starter snakes to get. I have one that has never given me any problems at all and eats like a champ. They are awsome snakes.
