Is this a Pastel Enchi?

jeff favelle Sep 18, 2012 12:04 AM

Hey guys, bred this male to a bunch of different females this Spring and I do'n't believe I produced any Enchis. Kind of a shocker because I was sure he had Enchi in him. Thoughts?

I bred him to a Spider female and produced this girl, which doesn't look like any of the Bumblebees I have produced over the years:

I don't see the typical pastel enchi head and he has a lot of pattern and spots... so no pastel enchi male. The bee is very unusual looking cause your pastel male is very nice!

Yep, that's what I thought they looked like!

Thanks for the clarification! Makes sense now why after 5 breedings I haven't produced a single Enchi. LOL.

wonzzer Sep 19, 2012 08:34 AM

I don't think your girl has pastel in her. Maybe somebody else on these forums can post other pastel Enchi's for comparison. Just my opinion.

xplicit Sep 19, 2012 09:08 AM

I agree, that is a very nice enchi ,but I don't see pastel in there, here is a picture of one I produced this year for comparison,Rich Kensinger.

...well....I had a long post...then went outside with a guy that stopped by....so this is shorter...dang bikers....

she is the best pastel enchi of the 4 in the clutch...and all of you would have screamed ,and wanted her....she was screaming with orange tints ....

the one you have is a year younger....they change color and pattern for a year or two....you'll see.....

I miss her....LOL

....Thanxx Travis.....

Again, I do not own any pastel Enchi's but have seen enough to know the above animal that Travis posted is the BEST looking enchi I have laid eyes on. She is NOT a pastel enchi. But when he breeds her, it will be a sad sight at the outcome when he doesn't hit any pastel combos. Time will tell. I am only trying to help Travis and offer my opinion. Whether positive or negative. It is only fair for him to know what he bought. Pastel Enchi's were $1500.00 last season, and Enchi's were only half that. I don't think you ripped him off(if you sold it to him). I just think you made a mistake identifying her.

Just wondering Wonzzer...exactly what traits are you using to identify a Pastel Enchi and a Enchi...just courious what you are looking for in differences.

.......yea....ok....

.....I got enchis like ??? 6 years ago for $200....

.....I don't remember what he paid actually....

....I had enchis and pastel enchis....all at the same time....big ones, little ones ,and in between ones....

....but I cannot convince people who are right that they aren't....learned that one long ago....

.....he's (Travis) still at work.....he's going to post other pics later....

they grow pigment all over the sides as they grow......
and cameras play games with our eyes...

In the third Pic you can still barley see the head markers of a Pastel Enchi and like Jeff stated as they get older colors change...they disappear a little more every shed.
Dad is the Enchi....

Travis, what was the breeding that produced your bright enchi. Still looks like a super enchi rather than a pastel enchi.

lairofdragons Sep 19, 2012 08:42 PM

You would have to ask Jeff...but I am almost positive it was her Dad in the pic for sure to a ? Pastel female...maybee even a Super Pastel Female...he had them then.
Enchi and Pastel Enchi go through a Color Change as Jeff stated the older they get...she has really started changing the last 3 or 4 sheds...just like a Mystic Potion changes the older they get and so many other morphs.

I forgot you get her Daddy also....

yes....enchi x pastel....

.......the enchi male pictured is like ? 7 or 6 years old...got him for $200 from John Piro.....the year noone wanted enchis....they dropped in price.....I wish I would have bought like a dozen females that year....the male was just a "what the heck..they're really cheap anyways"......then they went up....as did the lessers ...(got a lesser from him that day also....Thanxx JP.....

I'm seeing Pastel in the first pic but no enchi, and lairofdragons I'm seeing a really REALLY nice enchi but no pastel in it. Here are a couple of pics of a pastel enchi with some size to it just to compaire.

Hope that helps

lairofdragons Sep 19, 2012 10:23 AM

Tell you what guys...tonight when I get home I will do a group photo for you with her....an Enchi and a few Pastels...then you can decide from there.

I'm not trying to make you upset. Your enchi's yellow coloration and light brown looks as good as my super enchi's. Only things missing are the head markings and the purple sides. I do look forward to your post tonight. If I have time, I will post a photo of one of my supers so you can see what I mean.

My enchi's vary quite a bit.
First photo was my breeder female from Stan Rupple.
Second photo was my breeder male(also ph ghost)from Pro Exotics

wonzzer Sep 20, 2012 12:05 AM

Here is one of my super enchi females from that pairing.

721 grams

Travis, your female is very similar to my super enchi.

JYohe Sep 20, 2012 02:51 PM

Yes Travis ...your female is very similar to the super enchi....

too bad I made her and I owned one adult enchi at the time...

ends that idea....

//////.....

the enchis you posted are both different shades of brown....

they vary alot...they vary from time of year, time of shed cycle, what the genes are they carry, as in, het for ghost...het for amel....they could be a little lighter if they are hets....I have seen it many times in my hets....(I used to pick hets from piles of possibles all the time....! $$$)...

...so......I am off to read the other posts and see the new pics....this thread gotta be Fin
