Shaking Bearded!!

bloodbd Oct 06, 2003 10:05 AM

I just built a big wooden cage and i put them in it 2 days ago. Ever since one of my baby beardeds feet shake. And it doesnt stop. I checked the temps and it is a heat box in there with good temps. They have more then enough room since theres 2 of them in there. I will post pics of enclosure tonight it looks great. They both are eating fine. But he shakes constantly. If anyone knows anything let me know. Email me or we can talk online. Thanks, R.J.

shaking is usually a sign of mbd. but since you say it started when you put him in the new cage, is it possible theres any fumse or chemicals remaining from the building process?

Did you check the floor surface temp? Could it be burning his feet. Kind of makes me wonder since you only mentioned him shaking his feet. What's the substrate?

Sand with a big tree branch in the middle. If i knew how to post pics i would show you the enclosure. Thanks, R.J.

The fact that this started when you put it in a new cage is likely just a coincidence. Are you dusting the food with a calcium supp. that contains vitamin d3? If so, how often?

I think it could be a coincidence that it started when you put him in his new cage. To find out, is it possible for you to take him out for a day or so and see if the shaking stops? If it stops you'll know it has something to do with the new cage - fumes, etc... If the shaking persists, then it could be MBD or lack of vitamin B.

Good luck and keep us informed.

This could be a "shot in the dark" but two months ago when my room mate got her baby we noticed he would shake or just go completely stiff...after asking my vet he told me to try giveing him more calcium and some more sun for hes vita D.....since then he has not done any of it!

Thankyou, I guess he wasnt getting enough calcium. So i bought new stuff and i loaded the crickets with it. It seemed to work. No shaking going on in my cages anymore. A huge thanks goes out to all who helped. My first leo eggs were laid yesterday. Very happy. Thanks agian, R.J.
