I am new to the tortoise, and I have some questions.

KeoniKoch May 27, 2003 01:39 PM

I have been working wiht reptiles for many years, but have never dived into tortoises yet. Every time we go to the conventions my wife talks about how cute the tortoises are and how she would love to have one. This year at Daytona I am contemplating getting one but first I would like to do my research on them. I would be looking for something that would stay wrather small at adult size, and could be kept in doors for part of the year due to seasonal whether. Also any ruff price averages would help as well. You will have to excuse my ignorance. Thank you.

Hi. For a good beginner tortoise (if there is one) would probably have to be a russian tortoise. They are small and very personable. The females grow about 8 inches MAX and the males grow to about 5-6 inches MAX. For all the correct info on this wonderful little tortoise go to the link below and make sure you join the yahoo group (the link will be on the site). Good luck and good for you for researching them first.
