Well, I tried...

JLC Oct 06, 2003 12:55 PM

...to get some good pictures of Caesar. None of them turned out well enough to post directly on the forum. (Ya'll get such beautiful, detailed pictures!) All I have to work with is an inexpensive 35mm camera and am at the mercy of film developers. One of these days, I'm gonna go digital!

For anyone interested though, here's a set of pics of our lovely little cape gopher. All the times that I've read in these forums "The pictures don't do the colors justice" are SO true! Caesar is a beautiful red, with perfect little diamonds running down his back until they blend into the deep orange and coffee-colored tail bands.

I didn't have time to get fancy or fiddle with picture sizes...I just threw a bunch of full-sized pics onto a webpage...so if you have a dial-up modem, it could take a while to load. And for some reason, random pictures come up "broken" sometimes, but they all should work.

Very nice! Good pattern. I can't wait to see better pics. Would that lovely little angel holding Caesar be your daughter?

*PROUD MAMMA*

There probably won't be any better pics until I can afford a nice digital camera.

Caesar has some nice looking pattern from what I can see. If "What's his Nmae" says it's nice looking, than it's probably better than most. "What's his Name" can be real picky or shall I say his standards regarding snakes is a higher level than most. I hate to say it sometimes since it goes to his head. LOL. Is there a mate in the future for Caesar? You've probably read on the forums about Capes being picky or finnicky eaters. How is Caser? Del has been keeping the Capes for awhile now and he told me that if he keeps the feeding interval for the Capes at 10 days, they feed real consistent. It's nice to see daughter holding and looking comfortable with Caesar.

Here's the mate to the other leucistic Texas ratsnake I posted a pic.

Hey, what's with that "what's his name" stuff?

JLC Oct 09, 2003 12:17 PM

Oh...you know...he's worried about all the compliments going to What's His Name's head. *little giggle fit*

ScottishCLK Oct 09, 2003 03:00 PM

Big head? Who me? Pshaw!

I should have known better. I mean "what's his name" with the upmost respect.

*LOL* Teasing me with that beauty! I'm gonna have to knuckle down even harder on this book project. Maybe if hubby sees how truly in love with these animals I am, he'll not mind another snake or two (or three or...??? *LOL*) in the house. I really hope you get some pretty babies from those two and I can have one.

I'd love to get Caesar a mate, but the above issue is still...well...an issue!

He's scarfin' up fuzzies. He currently eats two of them every seven days. They barely leave a lump in him anymore, so when I go to the show in Richmond later this month, I may move up to hoppers. Not sure yet, though. The only time Caesar refused a meal was just before he shed.

a timely pic to something you want that you are on a list for when he produces. In fact, I got my leucistic Texas rat snakes from him. Sometimes I'll send an email to Dwight and talk about one of his rat snakes or one in general and he'll shoot me a picture of one he has that eats me up. LOL. I'm also hopefully giving you some pics and info to wear down your husband. Never to early to work on a snake you want. LOL.
Sounds like Caesar is going good with the feedings. It is common for a snake to refuse food prior to shedding and can even be stressful if you happen to drop in a live rodent when the snake is in blue eye. If he's eating 2 fuzzies with no problem and showing any lumps, then it sounds about time to try a hopper. One hopper should be cheaper than two fuzzies.

LOL! I thought you meant Dwight was always sick when I read the heading for this post!

terryp Oct 09, 2003 05:54 PM

and left it at that. I usually use the subject as a lead to my post. That gives me some thoughts on when to time cutting off the subject and go to the message. I hope Dwight isn't browsing the pit forum. I'll have an email in my inbox at home. See, that proves I can't slip nothing by you.
