OT BLUE

GerardS Oct 10, 2012 11:21 AM

My buddy sent me a pic from a farm in CA of some iguana babies. Only thing, they're all blue, how cool is that. Soon there won't be anymore green ones for sale.

NOT MY PIC!

Here's the main question after seeing pics like that and hearing about all of them being "rescued".......Why in the hell do people still breed iguanas?

"Why in the hell do people still breed iguanas?"

So parents can "impulse-buy" them for their kids.......(where they of course get rescued from or die)..

That's what I was thinking Doug.
Iguanas have been in the pet trade for how long now? I doubt that will change anytime soon. I feel like 90% of the people that buy them have no idea of how big they get and how much care they actually require.

They'll learn I guess, lol.

That's right Mike. Tom Crutchfield addressed (and stressed) that very issue in an article he did on Iguanas a good while back. The large percentage of all these "cute" little inexpensive Iguanas these parents buy for their kids invariably end up getting neglected regarding their very specific requirements.

.........It's a very sad reality.

i would love to see their set up.

Like how do they get water/
What do they do when it gets cold in the winter?

And what are those iguanas all doing on top of that roof? Did they build that for them or was that there? I wonder if they made it that way for a purpose besides sunning...and why that way?

I just find the whole setup odd.
