How do you prove out a new morph?

I've always wondered how this works? Do you breed to a normal or another of the in question morph or something else?

You can breed the animal in question to a normal and if you dont get anything out of that breed the offspring back to the original snake to see if it might be a recessive gene that would have hets and not show in the first breeding. If you have two that look the same breed them together and see what you get a super could come of it or normal and snakes that are the same could come out. It could take a few generations of offspring or it could be the first clutch depending on what kind of gene it is. It could just be a funky looking normal you dont know untill you breed it out.
