Is this weird?

maeveretts Oct 16, 2012 10:54 AM

I put a pond in the aquarium I keep him in and circulate the water with a pump. I was told that he probably would be annoyed by the vibrations and noise but he seems to love it. I always find him soaking in the water or completely wrapped around or in front of the pump. Is this weird or is it okay? should I take it out?
Thanks

Water pump gets warm after some time?
I think he found his hotspot.

Altho the video doesn't show the rest of the cage in detail - I did notice that there is a really bright light shining down over it - probably hot and annoying to the snake and that particular spot is shaded and cool. The hide is directly under the lamp - again probably hot and looks to be a little big for the snake as well.

Anyway - you don't want him hanging out in the water - unless you want to deal with scale rot and/or other associated illness - you probably want to redesign the cage more for the snakes sake than for your aesthetic pleasure.

There are 2 hides in there and both of them are underneath a refrigerator rack (covered in terrarium liner) which provides a basking spot and keeps the heat from blasting on the hides underneath. The one hide is where the heating pad is and the other is off of it. I can change the watts too and make it cooler but the way it stands what I'm using now is keeping the temperatures right in the tank. (85 during the day)
I put the pond in the tank to help keep humidity up because without it i'd be spraying it all the time. He's not in there 24/7 and even at night when the lights off and temps go down he still likes to chill on the pump. I'll try moving things around and see how he reacts. thanks.
