I have my two Eastern Box Turtles in an outdoor penned in area. Being the middle of October with the temperature dropping, I expected them to hibernate by now, but they are not. I made sure to have at least a foot of soil dug up and somewhat loose to make it easier for them to burrow as well as a large pile of grass clippings and leaves to dig under. Is it normal for them to still be active this time of the year?
