brumation chamber thermostat

To all who use the brumation chambers... how the heck do u rig the thermostat so the temps blow below 50 degrees. I put mine under a heat mat but I could only get the air to blow 52 degrees. Perhaps its because it is 85 degrees out right now? Some picks would be very helpful.
