Indian Summer

Seeves1982 Oct 23, 2012 10:30 PM

Where I live temps dropped about a month ago and the ambient in my room dropped down to a steady 75 degrees. Now all of the sudden we have a heat wave and in one day temps are back up to 81. The temps are supposed to be up for about a week and then drop back down low again and I can continue my cooling as planned. My question is has this happened to anyone one else in the past and is there anyway that this will affect my breeding season. I can keep my room pretty well temperature controlled for the most part, but drastic unexpected swings like this throw me for a loop. I would assume that I'd be ok cause nature isn't perfect either. I haven't dropped any belly heat yet just ambient, but does anyone think that it would be worth getting the ac unit back out for a week of heat or should I be fine as is.

I bred snakes for 20 years....had them all in one room....kings ,corns, milks, ratsnakes, balls, carpets, chondros sometimes, and other stuff...from other countries....I had room heat....I tried to keep the room at 84 at shoulder height....I used one ceramic heater usually...and 2 in the winter if needed....and always tried for ...84....all year long....
I had eggs from most snakes most years....balls included...
(2 Rhino Raxx staxx did have belly heat....but that's 24 snakes from like 150 to 300 at any given time....and it was set and left alone most of the year)...

balls breed and lay....no matter what.....and I never had a temp drop more than a couple degrees in the winter that I couldn't keep up with....

they know it's winter..........
