Hello, my name is Josh and I am a Crocodile biologist living and working in beautiful Belize, Central America. I work to conserve the threatened and vulnerable American and Morelet's Crocodiles (Crocodylus acutus and C. morletti) by conducting valuable research on species that unfortunately has very little information available. Additionally, we work with in close connection with the Belize Forest Service to reduce crocodile-human conflicts via education of the public and capturing and relocating problematic crocodiles. Lastly we serve as a sanctuary for sick and injured crocs (often due to poachers) and for crocodilians that can not be released back into the wild for fear of their safety or the safety of the people where they live.
Anyway, I have been asked to create some videos of the footage captured of us on some of our rescues. This is one I recently put together where we caught an ~8 foot male crocodile who is a little fiesty. This trap was set for a large, 12-14 foot problem maker, so we simply just relocated this spunky male a ways up North rather than keeping him in captivity. (We also take various measurements and tag him for our research)
Thanks for any critiques! Its all a great help! Crocs Rule!
