RIP
The Original Ember female passed away recently. These are some of the pics I took of her. She was probably 25 years old or so, and in the last year or two, really started to "look" old.
She was purchased at a local Reptile only store back in the late 90's or early 2000. I noticed she had an odd look to part of her body the day I brought her home. Took her to the vet and they did X-Rays, which showed about 10 compressed ribs. I retired her to a Melamine cage (4'x 2')where I figured I would just let her live out her years. She did not like the cage, and went on a fast. I put her back into a new rack I just got, and she ate like crazy. I (kind of selfishly) decided since she packed on so much weight, I would try and put her with a male (she was unproven and just a normal at this time). I put her in with a Ghost male ($2K snake at the time) and got a clutch. Only 2 eggs made it, but I got a pair of Embers Het Hypo. I still have the female and just recently sold the male. The Ember offspring will keep her lineage going. I am glad I bred her, she was a great snake, and will be missed.
Yes, she has some stuck shed in the first pic, I dampened the newpaper and it came off overnight.
Yes, you do see rat feet in the second pic.
In the third pic, you can see the compressed rib area right where the ovulation starts.
All of her offspring have been flawless. I assume the rib compression was from an old injury, but really not sure.
