OT - Day at the Beach

Jlassiter Nov 04, 2012 01:04 AM

It was an awesome day here in Corpus today so we took the boys to the beach.....

Here's a few photos of the outing:

Then the thunderclouds rolled in so we went four wheeling on the way to the access road:

GONE FISHING!!!

Like the Man-of-war myself... It's one of the those things I read about as a kid that made me so interested in the natural world. It's still amazing to me that something that looks like one single organism is actually a colonial organism.

Very cool "animal" in other ways as well... cool photo as well, thanks for putting it up.

They're cool until you jump out of the boat thinking about lobster and end up crying. It's a cool animal to swim with though, when you see them first.

Honestly I'd run the risk of crying to be swimming with one... sounds as if you have and I envy you for it.

As a kid the other things I read about that would now be called items on my must see "bucket list" were Leafy Sea Dragons, Redwoods and Sequoia, and the giant Gippsland Earthworm.

I've seen the Redwoods and Sequoias, Leafy Sea Dragons (albeit at the Boston Aquarium). Man-of-wars and the earthworms will probably always be on the bucket list... but who knows.

You just come down to Miami and I will show you all you want. It really sucks when there is a ton of little babies washed up on the beach and you don't see them until you feel them.

Cool Pics John. Looks like you and the family had a great time. Yeah, my mother lives near singer island in florida and I can attest to the beach being absolutely covered with them at certain times of the year. Looks like a hundred kids blew bubbles with grape bubble gum and left them all over the place with the bubbles sealed.

Looks like a fun day, John. That Jelly fish is pretty neat looking. Looks like something out of space.
