I just caught this nice looking little girl in my driveway. I took get down to the powerline cut and released her. I catch a lot of micrurus but never get bored of them.

Great Coral!
It must be awesome to live in an area where Elapids cruise around. They truly are one of my "top of the list" lifer snakes to see in the wild.

Post more pics of herping!

Great shots, Gerard. I'm surprised it was still enough especially for the one with your hand. The few I've encountered were rather spastic and jerky.

I have found a good number that are very calm. This one didn't even whip once and just steady tried to ease away. I have found plenty more that were CRAZY! Those always seem to be the ones in places you would want a nice calm one to be, neve seems to work that way. I found a new born once that was so small I couldn't even kind of get a grip on it. I just helped it across the entrance to the zoo, right before work.

My apologies Gerard... seems the "Real Deal" thread I first thought was simply circumcised underwent an entire Lorena Bobbitt treatment while I was composing the above message and it was attached to the only available thread... namely your's.

I have this image in my head... Cindy, tooling down the highway...something dangling from her antenna like a raccoon tail...oh god... it can't be...

I was reading thinking about what could possibly have been written that needed a little trimming.

Great snakes, and great pictures. I may have posted it here before but i once watched one crawl across a girl scout camp pool deck and climb a 4" diameter oak tree til it was several feet above my head. I never would have believed behavior like that if i hadn't seen it.

On the other hand (sorry) do you think the hand-in-frame pic is wise to post on this forum where a lot of young herpers visit? You clearly think that was safe behavior, and you undoubtedly know more about these critters than I. But I wouldn't advise it. (I determine behavior by weighing likelihood vs consequences: something that might very well happen, but without much damage, I'll do; something extremely unlikely to unfold in a bad way, but when the outcome could be very very grave (sorry again) I won't. I'd put this in that category. And I'm originally from Kentucky where the ministers handle venomous...

I use to find them all the time in the Boy Scouts, fun times.

Well, I didn't post the pics of me handling it for that very reason. I only posted that one as a size reference and I didn't think it was all that bad. I think there is worst things on Animal Planet, more kids there than on here. I got in a lot of trouble for catching one when I was little, so, maybe I should have thought about it. I don't know.......
