What's the pros and cons of the numerous ones out there? In the market for an incubator and trying to decide which would be best for ball pythons. Thanks!

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

make one...cheaper...and holds more....

Hova-bators if you aren't getting alot of eggs....

(I used 1 to 4 Hova-bators...and got around 150 eggs a year....
(the lay dates usually stagger by months...so as one hatches you have new eggs...not all 150 at once)

Is there a link on how to make your own? I've never messed with heat tape either, I'm a fast learner so I'm interested in doing it myself along with building my own racks so I can focus more money on the snakes!

Youtube search it.
I built mine out of a wine fridge. If you are looking for larger, a stand up freezer will work.

I bought an Animal Plastics incubator at the Tinley Park show and couldn't happier. It is approximately six feet tall and can hold several hundred eggs. As far as price, the AP incubator is far cheaper when compare to other model similar in size.

Hi,

You can convert a small closet into a world class incubator for a couple hundred bucks or less. A couple of Ranco thermostats wired in sequence, an oil radiator and wire shelving. If you are cooking only bps, put a couple of small fans in there so the temps don't stratify. If you are cooking multiple species, let the temps stratify and you can incubate turtles, colubrids, pythons and monitors in the same incubator, as I am doing now. Its easy, cheap and incredibly reliable because you have the mass of the surrounding building to stabilize and buffer any unplanned changes in temperature. I've been using and designing incubators for decades, and the closet is by far the most stable and reliable. Good luck.
