Ladybugs toxic?

dynamohum1 Oct 06, 2003 03:26 PM

Are ladybugs toxic? It is the asian lady beetle I am wondering about, there are millions of them swarming all over everything around here right now and they get in the house and may make thier way into the beardeds cage. I am downtown at work right now and there are millions of these guys crawling all over the 15 story building that I am in, and many tens of thousands will be waiting on my house when I arrive home.

I belief most if not all types of ladybugs are toxic to just about everything, including most birds. But I could be wrong.

In the end it is always better to avoid feeding wild caught insects because the could contain insecticides, parasites and other things that could prove harmful to your dragon, even if the insect itself isn't normally harmful.

There are already a large variety of good nutricious insect feeders available, including crickets, hornworms, silkworms, butter worms and various species of cockroaches.

I am not proposing to feed these to the dragons on purpose. It is possible, given that I am finding them in every nook and cranny in my house, that one will make it's way near a dragon.
