I was just wondering if any one has any pics to post. Maybe even a pic of a red white sided.

My pair of Stillwater hypo x Kingsville red bulls. Photo taken during mating this last spring.

Their daughter from the previous year.

Slightly off topic here but WOW, that Rozy is really putting on some heft. I finally purchased a puppy playpen for Ahnuld and my other large adults. Gives them a large secure enclosure to cruise around in. This is a photo of Ahnuld (really big male Kingsville Red) having just shed in the playpen. Ahnuld is way beyond casting in one piece due to his size and mass (he's over 10 lbs. now and right at seven feet long). Anyrate, these playpens are 57" wide and three feet tall. This one is flipped over on its top using the mesh ceiling as a floor. One of THE best purchases for my large Pituophis since frozen rodents...

Now, back on topic: MChap30, I recommend that you check out some of Jason Nelson's snakes (Envy Reptiles) as he has done some morphing with the red bulls. Maybe he has or will eventually have what you are looking for...

Hey, Pit_Fan, I like the puppy playpen idea but can't the snake escape out the top? Rozy is about five feet long and would go over a three foot high wall easily.

Not a problem! As they attempt to climb, the mesh walls give way towards the outside making it harder for them to sustain any upward momentum. If the panels were rigid, perhaps they could extend the three plus feet needed to breach the top. Also, there is a four inch wide rim at the top that extends over the pen. Here is a photo of my five foot male Sonoran in the pen with the top rim visible. I have left all of my large adults in the pen for hours and most of the males in there for overnight and not one has even come close to topping the pen. Best purchase since frozen rodents for exercising large Pituophis...

Is your pen this one? This one has a mesh screen top and a zipper bottom. So it would be secure both top and bottom. I put nothing past my snakes! LOL!

Yes, that's it! I flip mine over on its top so the mesh ceiling becomes the floor. The circular mesh panel is completely attached with a circular zipper and is therefore snake-proof. The actual floor however is secured via a few velcro tabs and is not suitable for use by snakes as they could get under it and escape. As double insurance, I keep the pen in a room with a door that closes securely. Even if one were to get out, it would have no option for getting away from me for more than the few minutes before I found it again. So far, so good with the big, restless Pituophis.

If I get that pen I will sew the bottom on securely. Then I can put aspen bedding in it for something to burrow in, and zipper the mesh top closed and not worry about escapees.

It's a pretty good design for snakes. Could use a few improvements though such as you mention. A couple of positives regarding flipping it on its top include: the mesh part is easier to clean if they defecate in there and the zippers of the two zipper panels end up at the top, not at the bottom when the panels are zipped shut. Perhaps some enterprising snake keeper will design the perfect snake playpen some day. Releasing my little Pacific gophers in there is almost like releasing them into the wild considering all the space available to such small snakes...

LOL! That tiny little snake in that great big pen!

This is one of my 2 x 4 screen cages, a reptile screen cage laid on its side and with what to be the bottom but is now one of the ends enclosed with screen. I put these outside in the summer for a chance for the snakes to get some sun, or shade if they choose. If I joined them together I would get a floor area of 2304 inches, almost as much as the 2556 inches your circle gets. I like the dog pen a lot, as it is certainly more portable than my screen cages!

Awesome idea!
Can you guys tell me who makes that particular model? I've been looking around and not seeing one that is quite that big.
Thanks,

Not sure of the manufacturer but if you go out on Ebay or Amazon and search for "Puppy playpen", this model will be near or at the top of the list...
