JYohe Nov 24, 2012 03:24 PM

not many people follow up....they ask...we tell....and we enver hear from them ....

did the 5 gram ball eat?...
did the prolapse go back in?
did you decide what substrate?
did you figure out how rats breed?
did you kill the destructive rodents?...
did you find a substrate for incubation you prefer? and why?
....etc etc etc....

......!....just mentioning.....

this whole site and all these forums died....people are in other forums now...even using facebook to sell snakes...wow...welcome to the new world...suxx in my eyes...LOL....I remember asking for pics and sending money orders for them....people are in a few forums like BLB.....I personally hate the layout of the forums....you see one line and have to open it ....Kingsnake is easier...you can see all the posts and replies at once....

I miss the fights too....sad.....not enough know -it -alls anymore....HA!......

So sad. FB will be the death of all things good in this life. Alright, well maybe not all. But lots.

The one that always killed me was, an admitted "newbie" would come on here super green and barely knew what a Ball Python was, then 3 weeks later, they're on here giving advice to people and argueing w/people that I know, have had snakes/Balls almost as long as the newbie had been alive!

I've been on fb for about year now, the only reason I finally made an account was because everyone was talking about how they sell so many more animals on there than they do classified sites. I must be doing something wrong because I still haven't made a single sale off facebook, all my business still comes from classified sites at this point....

i asked about substrate awhile back.

i had been using coconut bark. i tried cypress mulch. i do not care for it. i don't like the fact that it has the long sharp pieces/splinters in there especially for hatchlings. i was nervous about one eating and ingesting a sharp piece.

i went back to the coconut bark i like the way it holds moisture, easy to spot clean, and no sharp parts. it is more expensive, but i only have a small collection and the extra money is worth my peace of mind.

thanks for the advise though!

,,,,cool....I could not find enough coconut bark/husk....I had 300 cages usually....cypress..couldn't find it either....
aspen..yes...I screamed every time I saw a $Ball$ eating large amounts of it, stuck to a rat (etc) after they wetted it and dragged it around ,dumbassessss....
....babies....I used paper for a year on balls....they just need cleaned too often ...

gotcha... i am just a small time hobbyist with a couple handfuls of snakes. i usually just got a local shows and load up my truck with bags of coconut bark it gives me a chance to look at critters, get ideas for new projects, and see some people. i like it for hatchlings as well just because of how well it holds humidity. to each their own. i can certainly understand how paper would be much easier with a large collection.
