frank... a few questions

krhodes Nov 28, 2012 10:41 PM

I have studied these guys and their habits in the wild off and on for the last 16 years. I know of a few others that have experience with hognose in different places such as Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, etc.
Where is your study area? I'm in northwest Texas. The hog populations here have similarities to those other populations but have some differences in activity times, preference of meals, tolerance and intolerance to certain prey etc.
Are the ones you re looking at western or mexican? I think the mexican hogs may have a higher heat tolerance than the westerns.

Thank you,
Kevin Rhodes

We are looking at the very extreme western populations in Az. And so far they're mexicans.(some books mention we have some westerns too)

I to not think snakes vary that much if at all on heat tolerance. Usually the amount of heat is directly related to how fast they can cool off. And by need.

Next year I will be looking more to the most western poputation. Cheers
