question about my new softshell turtle...

Hey, today i got a new softshell. i had one before for about 5 years until my dog got to it. my question is that is it normal for a softshell to be all black with a bit of yellow? the under part of the shell is all black is this normal. ill try to get a pic of it soon so i can post it in the forum, im not sure if it is a spiny or some other kind of softshell.

Sounds like a florida softshell.
