Let's say a female locks with a male in October.
Then in December she locks with a different male.
Which male is more likely to sire the clutch? The earlier, or later male?

if in the same season it is always much much more likely that the first male that breeds a female will be the father. I beleive if you look up the exact statistics I think it is 70-80%. E

In my experience the outcome is totally random. I have had multiple clutches sired by the last and multiple clutches sired by the first. The female ultimately decides if and when she developes follicles, ovulates and lays. Sperm retention from the previous seasons is one example of the females decisions .... I don't believe you can accurately say which sire is most likely to sire the clutch. Just my $0.02
