rainbowsrus Dec 07, 2012 05:05 PM

So far the best I've been able to do with them is to have them send me the check (oopps, sent for way too much, please western union the difference back asap).

Question is how could I jack with them even more? I have a PO box so address is not an issue.

history on the latest, though it was a scammer from the beginning with what they said and how they said it.......

Hello,

How are you doing there today and how is business hope you’re doing great. I just want you to know that you might hav received the check yesterday or today and will love to know if you have received it because there was a little problem with the amount on the check which i think it should not be a problem between me and you because according to the instruction which was given to my secretary was that I told her to issue two different check payment one for you for the exact amount and the second check payment for my cousin at the hospital to pay for his operation bill, so the problem is that the amount that was suppose to be on your check she wrote it on my cousin check, and your own on her check.

So what I want you to do for me now is that once you receive the check payment kindly take it to your bank cash it, deduct your money and do me a favor by sending the remaining balance to my cousin for his operation bill and below is the name and address which you’re sending the money to through Western Union Money Transfer.

Name: Jerry Harvey

City: Forth Worth

Texas: 76119

So I am very sorry for the stress that this whole think might have cause you and hope to hear back from you with the Western Union Money Transfer Details after you have sent the money to the following given name .I am expecting you to get back to me with the following information such as:

Sender’s Name:

Sender’s Address:

Mtcn Number (10 Digit Number on the receipt)

I wait your reply with the Western Union Money Transfer details from you soon.

Stacey.

.........

LOL, as if that's gonna happen!!!

So, any ideas on how to jack with them even more?

Tell them that due to IRS regs, you can't do that. But instead, you'll send the check back to them and await payment via Western Union and that once payment via WU is received, you'll ship the snake immediately.

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously

I received the same email from the same person. Every time we respond, we give them an opportunity to sharpen their skills. I have watched this email get longer and more involved each time I receive it. It "almost" sounds convincing, lol. It's not worth anyone's time to respond to it. Dave, thanks for posting it, so others will know how to recognize it when it comes.

I agree that each time the story gets better, the wording sounds more like a real buyer IMO the bottom line is, when the check arrives for too much money and they want cash refund, it's clearly a scam. So far I have three such checks. One of the first ones with clear spelling errors. And each time those checks cost the scammer something to produce and send to me. While small, it's still money lost to them. The earlier ones were expressed (maybe with counterfeit postage?) The last one with a standard stamp.

I feel I'm getting them to waste their money, resources and time. I have three separate fake checks printed on real watermark check stock. That paper has to have some cost or value as well as the postage and envelope it was sent in.

Yes, a small win but still a win in my book!!

About 4-6 years ago I had a guy who did the same thing. He wanted to buy an albino Ball for 2K and would send payment with money orders. I was almost certain it was a scam and had him send them to my workplace. He sent me 5K in money order checks which I got while I was at work. My work security signed for them and brought them to me as soon as they came in telling me a guy was waiting for me to come down and talk to him. A note in the envelope said to cash the checks at my bank, give his associate 2K, keep 2K for the snake and keep 1K for my trouble. I could ship the snake later.

I told security to tell the guy waiting that I would mail the money orders back as I did not want to make the deal. The guy said to send the checks down and when I refused to he left immediately.

These checks looked real! When I called the bank who processed them the banker said all the numbers on them were fake and I should not cash them as my account would not be reimbursed when my bank found out that they were fake.

The guy emailed me about 20 times that day and wanted the checks back. He did not have my home address. I called in the police who dealt with it from there. From what the officer said they contacted the guy via email and told him to cease contact with me. I never heard from him again.

True story. It annoyed me enough to try to reverse the scam or at least make the guy sweat!

Yep I had this done to me back in 2003 I gave the guy the run around. If you want to read about it I posted it on the BOI in a post started by Nicole Elliser about "Possible scam". My post is number 56 in the Possible scam post. I would post a link to it but KS would just delete my post.

I have had a few people try scamming me last 2 years with my retics and sunglows. But I just tell them I only take US Postal Money Orders. Some times people ask why I only take Postal Money Orders and not Pay Pal or bank check and I tell them it covers both of us from fraud. Because if the check if fake or if I don't send there snake to them the government will come after them or me. Because forging a US Postal Money Order is a federal offence and one of us will be going to jail. If they are legit buyers then they will send the money.

I know I lose some snake sale because I don't take checks or credit cards but its the best for me at this time.

Take care
Tom
