OT Introduction

JKramer Dec 11, 2012 06:56 PM

I have been a lurker for the past few years and I decided to join up since I am now actively herping again.

I currently have a 50/50 (?) Cal King that I bought my daughter a couple years ago and just adopted a male lavender Cal King and a female Black Mexican King. I previously, several years ago had a 200 snake collection that was just that, I did very little breeding.

I had at that time some large Burmese, an African Rock, a Childrens Python, a Redtail, and a trio of Sand Boas. I had many various breeds of Kingsnakes which has always been my favorite snake to keep.

I have hunted mainly in the Flint Hills and a few local areas around Kansas City. About 20 years ago I had the pleasure of hunting the River Road in Texas. I would love to go back but I hear bad things about the area.

Some of my war stories include collecting a (at the time and unofficially) state of Missouri record length Prairie King at 57". He was so old his blotches were turning into stripes. I let him go since I was told the state would kill him and stick him in a collection jar of some sort.

I also remember being near the "Big Hill" on FM170 and my father and I rounding a corner and we saw a massive snake nearly stretching the entire length of our lane. After identifying it in the headlights, we determined it was some sort of Gopher/Bull and with my arm extended above my head, at least 2 feet of him was still on the ground.

Sorry for the rambling. I love the site and I hope to add a few Brooksi to my collection in the future. Out of all the Kings I have had, I NEVER had a Flordia or Brooksi.

-John

Poor planning and procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Thanks Bluerosy. Are you a breeder of Florida or Brooksi kings? I'll work on scanning some pics of my previous collection. They are old Polaroids [gasp], so quality will be severely lacking.

I'll put on my flame suit and include my old Sonoran Gopher and a light Bull I collected south of Alpine,TX.
