I dropped my baby snake

vrhawk Oct 06, 2003 05:50 PM

I just got a baby snake over the weekend and within 24 hours of bringing it home, I accidentally dropped (she slipped off my hand) it from about 2 feet high onto an unpadded carpet. She (we're calling it a she even though it's too soon to tell) seems fine: active, no blood, and functioning tail. The only problem is that there is at least one bump on her back (I'm not certain if that was there before getting her or not). Considering I know that there is little that can be done about it, I'm trying not to worry about her but my girlfriend is worried.

Long story short, do we have reason to worry (it's only been maybe 36-48 hours since it happened)or should we just give her some time to heal a bruise?

Thanks a lot!

The snake is probably fine if it is small. Once I was trying to feed a snake (probably a 15-20 gram one). It latched on to my finger and I accidentally flung it behind the couch, it smacked the wall and everything. Of course I didn't mean to, it was a reflex. I went and picked him up and he proceeded to eat and is fine to this day. I think I was hurt worse than he was.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

I sure she is absolutely fine. I bet that bump was there before. I bet it's a spinal kink. No big deal.
