What is this?!!!

KingDome Dec 21, 2012 11:50 AM

Just notice she had bumps down both sides. Rows of bumps starting at the back and goes down to the belly. Not sure you can see it good in the picture. It looks bad in person. She eat good just now. Has anyone seen this before? What do I need to do?

Some people here will say those are fat deposits and that you are feeding her to much.

but if you are going to allow a male with her she will need that. You might get 3 clucthes if you keep up the feeding.

I wish my females were that healthy. I have a hard time putting teh weight on them.

Well, you are right it is hard to see them well in the pics. Could be fat deposits, could also be other things like parasites. (maybe roundworm). Rainer, how can you call that healthy for the snake? Really?

It's funny,......I didn't see anywhere in the OP's post that he was trying (or wanting) to get three clutches of eggs either. I guess when all that matters is producing as many eggs as possible, who cares about the snake making the eggs as long as it makes MORE!, MORE!, MORE EGGS!!!

And no!,.....those aren't huge FAT ROLES on this lady, those are "healthy" body reserves so she can provide when times aren't so plentiful..LOL!

I am so glad you like to disagree with me. You make me feel normal.

There is something seriously wrong with you. I would have that looked into. Why you just have to take all things and twist them, is very not normal. hahahahahahaha

My take on that snake does not agree with Bluerosy. Cheers

I do not think its about fat, it looks like a skin infection. That snake is not huge or fat. Its looks normal and healthy, other then the bumpy scales.

I would take it to a vet. It may be that simple.

My GUESS is, its caused by being slightly undermetabolized. that is, it cannot reach its full operating temps. That can impact the immune system. Or lack of temp choices, which can also impact the immune system.

THose two events can also effect the placement of fat bodies(abnormally) Anyway, have a vet look into that.

Beautiful stripers by the way. Best wishes

Thanks FR

thomas davis Dec 22, 2012 08:10 PM

i agree w/ FR looks like some sort of skin/fungal infection setting in. i would up temps to a hotspot of 95/100f and see if it changes anything, and or take it to a vet. for some tests. what you are seeing is NOT normal its your job to figure out what and why its happened and/or is.
good air exchange and good temp.&humidity choices go A L O N G WAY in overall health for kings.

good luck

Thanks guys, for the comments. I just drove 15 hours to PA. I will check temps more closely when I get back and if she still has them I will probable take her to the vet. I appreciate the help and the humor. LOL
