Double het Lavender Hypos

caracal Dec 27, 2012 08:48 AM

I can't say I know why, but the double het lavender hypos are freakin' gorgeous.
As you can see, lots of green and rufous showing.
It could be a coincidence but something seems to be going on.
I'm really excited to see what the double visuals will look like.
Hopefully 2014 !!

If there is something going in there I have something going on in about every clutch I have ever hatched for about TEN years now.
They are nice looking snakes no doubt but as normal as normal could be.
Just because some look a little lighter or have a few spots means nothing. Hogs are naturally variable in color and pattern. Even in the wild. Where I have seen them personally
Ask any other breeder that has been doing this for more then a year.
Good luck on the double! That should be neat-

Joe,
I happen to agree with you.
We all know hogs vary tremendously - though I'm not sure that is as insignificant genetically as you imply it to be. There could be lots of hidden secrets explaining the variation. I always say the significance of the anaconda gene could have gone unnoticed by the more cynical among us.
Actually, I've seen a fair number of normal hogs too (over the last 20 years), and these are relatively gorgeous.
Another problem is capturing the nuance of colors in pics.
For example,I've had so many people asking me about the lavenders. I know that however many pics they look at they will have no idea how truly beautiful the snakes are until they see one in the flesh. The same is true for the ghosts and many other beautiful snakes with subtle colors. I see when we talk about the greens and the reds some people love them and some people don't get it.
Bottom line is, these are really pretty and if I dropped them into a bucket of a thousand hogs I could pic them out.
Maybe it doesn't show adequately in the pics.
As I acknowledged it might have no relevance but it intrigued me and I guess maybe other people might find it interesting so I posted it.
Thanks for the good wishes on the double visual,(that's all I really care about
Jonny
