Boa's nostril completely covered in shed

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to pull off the hardened shed completely covering my boa's nostrils. I tried soaking the boa, upping the humidity to no avail. The skin is really caked on. I'm at a loss. The poor boa is breathing thru it's mouth. Any comments would be appreciated.
