Breeding question?

ballfreak Jan 06, 2013 02:49 PM

I tried feeding my female ball and she didn't eat so I than decided to put her in with my pastel any ways looked in the tub few hours later and noticed smears on the paper looked little like blood stains or close to that color on the paper. Now I started thinking did the rat bite my snake or was it discharge from one of the snakes? Any thoughts?

How would you not know if the rat bit your snake? You should be watching a snake that is with a live rat, never leave them alone. As for the discharge i have no clue what it may be

I always watch when feeding my snakes live prey this is all they will take. They live in a rack system animal plastics 41qt tubs so when a rat is dropped in I can see for the most part but when the rat is in the back of the tub it's harder to see. The chances of the snake have being bitten is slim to none. The smears I seen on the paper is more than likely discharge from one of them that's why I was hoping someone with experience in breeding snakes would have answered.

rat bites happen....blood and all...no big deal if it was....been there ,had that many times...oops...it happens....find a rat 2 days later that we know was eaten ...oops...they hide well....under paper under the ball...I hate that they chew out of plastic tub and the snake foloows them....! ...

.....blood from vent....it happens...but usually after copulations....which takes 9 hours.....

not sure what you have....watch them, check them....

just had a thought...male trying to breed...rubbed the end of the pene or open vent on paper too hard?....check his vent...

...???....we would need pics and that doesn't always help...

snakes can live through alot....should be cool...keep eye on them all...

good luck...

if the blood is more like streaks than blotches, it's basically a scent trail. We see it quite a bit with our females after a male has been introduced.

As for feeding live prey ... clipping the teeth takes a lot of the worry out of bites.

Yes it was streaks not blotches and def no bites like
It thought. As far as removing rat teeth damn that's brutal. (Lmao)
How do you remove teeth. God please don't bring me back as a feeder.
