rat bite on a snake ?

A buddy of mine had his ball chewed up pretty bad. We cleansed the entire cage and have put paper towel. Wound was cleansed with saline and the snake looks very active. Heard mix info on neospori n on when to put it. do you apply ir right away or do we wait a few days until the wound starts to heal?

Wait for it to scab up. Watch for infection.
Snake should be fine in a couple sheds. They are tough.

I caught a baby garter snake once that had the last 4 vertebrae of its spine showing. Tail stripped. It had healed over and the snake was doing just fine.

Nah. If anything, that would probably promote bacteria growth.
