How to feed a Wood Turtle? Help me please!!!!!!!!

blinkymac Oct 06, 2003 07:41 PM

My turtle would eat all the time if I let her. My question is how often should I feed her and how much? She likes all kinds of fruit, pinky mice, worms, hamburger and any type of meat, and she's a good girl she eats her veggies. How do I tell if she's gaining weight,or getting fat. How often should I feed her snacks usually a worm. I don't feed her any pre-made turtle food, but I put Herptivite multi-vitamins on her food, and liquid vitamin A on her food like once a month. My main concern is how often and how much do I feed her, and how do youtell is she's getting fat? Thankyou very much blinkymac & Ivy(turtle)

The way to tell if your turtle is gaining weight is to weigh it on a scale & periodically record the measurements. Also, I would suggest to not feed hamburger as it tends to be too fatty & also limit pinky mice for the same reason. I've put a link to some good information on general turtle care including diet with book references & if you do a search, you can then find more specific information on Wood Turtles.
