Is it safe to brumate a female if she is in blue? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Yep...not problem at all...It will just take her longer to shed. Make sure she has access to a water bowl.

Hey John,

Thanks so much for the reply. I figured it would be safe, I'm sure it happens in the wild often.

I put all of my snakes down in late November, and one of my female yellow rats went opaque and shed earlier this month.

Nice, it doesn't get cold enough here until jan/feb. Hell there will be days where it warms up so much I'll probably have to feed mine lol.

I could never rely on the temps outside for brumation where I live. I have to force cool them with an air conditioned brumation chamber........

I too do a forced cooling for about 3 months. I live east of Austin Texas, where the winters are mild. I'm fortunate enough to have a room seperate from my house with seperate heating and cooling. In my old house I had everything in a spare bedroom, where I had to rely on outside temperatures. What little I could keep everything cooled seemed adequate for the most part.
