Help??

Last week I noticed a couple of belly scales chipping on my het clown male. I only noticed one spot where there was some discoloration. Today I noticed one more spot. I'm not sure what this is from. Here are some pictures if anyone could tell me what this could be caused by. Scale Rot? Burn?

It looks like he's in shed, so I would wait until he sheds to see if it clears up on its own. It doesn't look like anything I'd be too concerned about as it looks like it's just some of the skin that is about to be shed off is a little bit distorted. Just keep an eye on him and if its still there after he sheds, it may be of a bit more concern.

I see a dry spot and a couple really small dry spots...could be burn, bacteria or a cut/scrape....looks fine....how did it happen is what we need to know...

bedding?
cage?
size of cage?
heat sources?
humidity?
feed schedule?
cage funiture?

is there something like a log or rock he could scrape it on? is there an under tank heater?, is there water in the bowl that is full of wood chips or fecal matter (probably not huh)...

.....I've seen balls ALOT worse...and they do fine...

like mentioned...it is in shed and will change in a week...>>>>

I have him and one more BP in a 40gallon tank with pine bedding. The heat during the day is about 85-87 with a 90-93 hot spot. There's an under tank heat pad on one side. Humidity is kept at a steady 50%. There's three hides in this tank with one on the heat pad and two on the other side. There's vines for them to climb throughout the tank too. I feed my BPs once a week but just recently started feeding 2 times because the local pet stores shipment of mice this time are half the size of the usual feeders.

I can't think of anything sharp that would cause him to cut himself. Sometimes the bedding gets lifted up under the warm hide. Ill put more bedding down there. My hides are one half log, one of those hamster houses (larger ones), and an exo terra hide.

Snake does look to be in shed. You mentioned pine bedding which is frowned upon for reptiles. Pine has an oil that can be harmful. I doubt that's what caused that spot though. Try to use aspen bedding instead of pine. After the snake sheds, if the spot is still there, put some neosporin on the spot a couple times a day as it will rub off. Make sure bedding is dry too.

I'll change up the bedding. I've already started putting neosporin on it and will keep doing that even after he sheds. Thanks for all the advice.

pins won't usually kill them...I know a guy that used pine with womas when they were still worth 50 cents....

BUT...there is pine and there is pine.......some smell slightly like pine and some burn your nose ....smell it....different species of pine aren't too bad....

.....and as mentioned...keep it DRY....

now...balls don't like it dry....so if you find good ,pure cypress(almost impossible sometimes)you could wet it down and keep it slightly damp....better for balls...

.....good luck...
