Kevin Enge's lavender albino

DMong Feb 14, 2013 02:22 PM

Does anybody know what year and who he sold his wild-caught lavender albino to that was found by David Justice in Ruskin, Florida? Also, were there ever any more lavenders ever produced from this animal? I spoke to him just the other day, and he doesn't recall now who he sold it to or anything else regarding it after it left his posession.

.....thanks!

~Doug

Yes, sorry about that....that is what I meant to type instead. His lavender was indeed produced from the Ruskin wild pair he got from D.J. just as you thought. I made a goof in the wording...LOL!

I don't. He said he had one of it somewhere though. He described it as being a light chocolate lavender with some incomplete banding. I don't doubt that his was a real one at all. But I sure do question all the other so-called "real" lavender Florida kings that were said to be around with all the other crossed amel Cal. king x floridana imposter hybrids at the time.

I don't buy it for one minute!..

A friend bought a clutch of the original lavendars in 93. Definite Cal king crosses. Odd snakes. The pattern wasn't intermediate, part of the snake looked like a Cal king and part was patterned like a Florida. Their build screamed Cal king.

Yep,....they were definitely purposely-made hybrid imposter snakes to maket as the real McCoy.

I know a guy that personally overheard one of the main hybridizers of the day tell a buddy of his while laughing about it after he sold them as lavender "Florida" kings at the expo that he personally crossed amel Cal. kings into the floridana as well.

Then there is also the fable regarding several of the well-known hybridizers had both the bogus Cal. king line AND an authentic lavender Florida king line..HAHAA!!!

yeah.......riiiiigghhhht!. I't just that some "looked" more genuine than others did is all..

Heh. I think they were called "Ruskin" just to throw people off. The adult pair collected by Dave Justice and sold to Enge was from closer to Tampa.

KJ Lodrigue had a group of lavenders years ago he called the "Ruskin" line. They were supposed to be the real deal. I imagine these descended from the Enge/Justice animals. He might be someone to talk to about this.

That is very likely and believable too,....in fact, in the phone conversation it was no different either..LOL!

That's awesome Nick about K.J. getting some of those. Geez, speak of the devil!...I just now made a Kisatchi corn post regarding him not 10 seconds before coming over here.....that is just too unreal!

....thanks!
