Amazonian Milk Frogs

I asked a similar question on the Arrow frog forums, but I learned their actually tree frogs. I hear their alot like RETF's and can even be housed with them, so if I were to breed them would I use the same breeding procedures? Except I hear they breed/lay their eggs in hollow wood filled with water.

Brian,

P. resinifictrix has made an explosion into the hobby this summer and everyone has been searching around for care. I was reading an issue of reptiles magazine about 2 months ago that went over a set up that would work for P. resinifcitrix they said. They had 3 sides cork bark, some stumps cut in half and drilled with large holes so the frogs could go in there and breed/drink out of a dish in the hole, they had bamboo perches, chinese evergreen, some other plants, etc. I'd jsut keep them about 77 F and mess around with the humidity. See if they like it around 55-60% or like it higher around 75-80%. Good luck.

I have also been having trouble finding info on them. I have two and I am keeping them the same way I keep most of my frogs. Eco Earth bedding, damp moss in part of the tank, sevral plants to hide in, and a shallow water dish. I keep their tedmperature moderately at 80-85 day and 75 night. I spray them at least 3 times a day. Mine are tiny so they are still eating fruit flies and tiny crickets. Hope this helps.

I think what im going to do, in december, I'll purchase a pair of them. Then later on as I learn, I will write a caresheet on them, so less questions can be asked. But by them Im sure someone will have already done the same.

Not much information available on them. Most pictures of adults I've seen have them being more like White's with a good girth and (with a ruler in the pic) about 5" long. Both of those make them very different than RETF's. I'd try care much like Whites with a little higher humidity (say 70%). The info I've seen also says they like elevated hide-holes. I saw a list of species encountered by a herp professor and his listing for them says they secrete which irritates the skin. True or not, I don't know. But that alone is reason enough to follow the number one rule of keeping frogs - NEVER mix species.
