Wild Palm Beach co., a.k.a. Pahokee Gold

I love this guy but too capture his color is impossible indoors or any Floridana for that matter . He was collected in 2011 in Pahokee, Fl and since that time he has grown another foot or more. I really wasnt expecting that kind of growth from a wc 4' adult. It took a solid year to get him healthy and parasite free but once he was he took off. The photo is a true representation of his color... the video not so much but you do get a lovely look at my laundry room

Very nice!!! Do you have a female from that local to breed him with ?

When he was collected he was actually locked up with a female. I purchased all the subsequent hatchlings and then the parents themselves. The wc female died but I held 1.1 back and they should go in 2014.

Was the feale having problems of some sort, or did it happen suddenly out of the blue and she looked/seemed fine?

She didn't have great reaction to some meds for a Protozoan infection. After that she just went downhill. Maybe some toxic reaction to a mass parasite die off or just the meds, who knows. It's too bad she was a cool snake.

Oh, yeah, that is a real bummer for sure. What was the medication she got, do you recall?....Flagyl (metronidazole) shouldn't cause that unless it is REALLY mega-dosed.

cheers, ~Doug

Beautiful king Keith!!!! Can't imagine seeing that crawling around. My buddy lives in Melborne and keeps telling me about the beautiful king snakes he sees . Not sure how they usually look from that area though. He is not a snake guy !!! Do you have a nice mate for the animal pictured? Would be a shame not to get some little ones from that blood.
