I had another nice litter of ATB's from my red female this season. I finally had some time to take pics of individual animals. My two holdbacks from last year looked really small until I compared them to this years babies. I guess you just don't realize how quickly they grow, LOL.

Great pic! Are those little ones hard to breed? I would like to do so one day. Thanks

Very nice!! That is one awsome looking ammy, I dare say that is the best one I have seen. Do you have any more? And are you selling any?

Well, if you have been into this hobby for a while, you may remember one of the very first issues of Vivarium Magazine which featured an article on captive breeding of these guys. I got a real nice group together and tried for about three years to breed them. They would breed every year but the females never took. I lost interest and sold them all. I took one adult female in on a debt that was owed to me a few years later and figured I would give it one more shot. I tried to find a red male or atleast a colored one worthy of my red female but it was a tough find at that time. I found one wild caught male that had been in for 8 mos., treated and established so I went for it. They successfully bred that same year. That was last year and they did it again for me this season. I came across another nice pair of colored, captive bred adults so I now am hopeful on two breeding pairs for next season.

My opinion on the breeding is that it just depends on the animals that you are working with. If you asked me that question while I was working with my first group, I would have replied that it was not easy since I had no success. Now it seems real easy but I attribute that to my individual animals. My founding female is a 5th generation captive bred animal and the wc male is only depositing sperm so maybe the cb is the key? Nothing is certain but I expect babies again next year from her and hopefully the other pair pulls it off also. I am going to flip flop partners as well just to see what other combinations of color and pattern pop out.

WOW! That pic should come with sunglasses! Incredible. Does the color stay like that?
