breeding question

keng1111 Mar 05, 2013 11:17 AM

Hi, this is my first year breeding and I have two females I have been breeding since December. I weigh them at the beginning of every month and neither one has been gaining weight. Also, they haven't been eating the whole time either. My question is do they gain weight if or when they ovulate and start building? Should I notice some weight gain the next time I weigh them if they do have eggs?

Thanks

yes...when they "build" ovum they will gain weight....and usually eat like pigs for awhile at least....

breed them till they lay...and feed them all they'll eat...

you need to figure out how to get them to eat...

sometimes getting them bred will trigger eating...and ovulation...

neither seems to happening at your home..

.....light cycle? temps? ages? room location? etc etc etc...

when they're pregnan like a mammal... if you have a 2000 gram female she can breed build and ovulate and still be around 2000 grams... when they lay the eggs they will lose about 100grams per egg... so if she lays 6 eggs she will way about 1400 grams after laying... It is nice for them to eat while you're breeding
them but not all of them will

if a snake - or anything - becomes pregnant, but does not take in calories, no weight can be gained. where would the extra weight come from ? whatever is growing in there is taking from mom to build itself...

so keep attempting to feed during this process.
